Hi everyone,

It's that time of year to start planning for orientation and locker clean-up.

How orientation will work
• This year we will not take pictures or supply picture ID cards during orientation.
• Instead students will take pictures during school in September.
• No hotdog stand at Freshmen orientation.
• We will sell gym clothes.

How lockers will be reserved
• We can no longer guarantee a "specific" locker.
• Instead we guarantee a locker in a general area. For example if you want C-252 we will guarantee a locker within a 50 locker radius, in this case a locker within C225-C275. If you don't have a specific locker you can request by Wing and your preference for a top, middle, or bottom locker. Or you can request to be put by another student.
• Locker locations will be reserved based on when parents actually work. This means the sooner you work the sooner you get your locker choice and the better chance of getting a specific locker or location.
• Parents that work locker clean-up will "select" their student's locker at the end of their shift. Your student can pick up their locker at the locker cashier table during their orientation day. Have your student tell the cashier that their parent worked locker clean-up. Make sure your student does "not" go through the locker selection lines.
• Parents who work orientation will pick up their student's locker after their shift is over. Parents have a choice of paying and bringing the signed locker agreement form with them when they work or you can have your student go to the cashier on their orientation day to pay and turn in their form. If you do the later have your student tell the cashier their parent is working orientation so we can put the form aside.
• Please note - for security purposes, once a student is given a combination they must keep that locker.

What you need to do to get a reserved locker
• Parents must work a 3-hour locker clean-up session per student, or
• Parents must work a 3-hour shift at Orientation per student.
• Remember your students are not to go through the locker lines because their lockers have been reserved for them.

Locker clean-up days (see attachment for more details)
• Thursday June 12 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm
• Saturday June 14 from 9-12 noon or 12:30 - 3:30 pm
• Possible August 24th date - no details yet

Orientation days/shifts
• Shift 1 is Tuesday August 19th from 9:00 am - 12 noon (seniors then juniors)
• Shift 2 is Tuesday August 19th from 6-9 pm (sophomores)
• Shift 3 is Thursday August 21st from 6-9 pm (freshmen)
• Shift 4 is make-up day on Monday August 25th from 9-12 noon

What about students:
• Students who work locker clean-up will earn "community service hours" only
• Students interested in volunteering for locker clean-up can e-mail JFKLockers@yahoo.com

• Shift you want to work
• Student first and last name
• Grade student is entering in Fall 2008
• Locker preference

Miscellaneous info

In case you haven't heard, the school will be undergoing massive renovations during the summer. The campus will be closed completely from June 20th through August 16th to the public and school staff.
