Puente Program
Mission Statement:
To increase the number of educationally underrepresented students who graduate from High school, become college eligible and enroll in four-year colleges; and earn their degrees and return to the communtity as leaders and mentors to future generations.
- An academically rigorous 9th and 10th grade college preparatory English class that incorporates Mexican-American/Latino and other multicultural literature.
- Four years of focused academic counseling and a mentoring program that encourages students to pursue professional goals and community leadership without compromising cultural and family heritage.
- College campus visitations, allowing students to look at campuses and speak to college students and representatives.
- Integration of Puente student's parents into the program through parent workshops, and meetings with the Puente counselor.
