Puente Program

Mission Statement:

To increase the number of educationally underrepresented students who graduate from High school, become college eligible and enroll in four-year colleges; and earn their degrees and return to the communtity as leaders and mentors to future generations.

1. An academically rigorous 9th and 10th grade college preparatory English class that incorporates Mexican-American/Latino and other multicultural literature.
2. Four years of focused academic counseling and a mentoring program that encourages students to pursue professional goals and community leadership without compromising cultural and family heritage.
3. College campus visitations, allowing students to look at campuses and speak to college students and representatives.
4. Integration of Puente student's parents into the program through parent workshops, and meetings with the Puente counselor.
