Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen
Juniors: Kennedy offered the PSAT on October 14 and many students participated. Juniors should begin taking SAT/ACT tests in the spring.
For more competitive universities it is best to take tests more than once to earn an optimum score. Look at the the web sites in the senior section to learn more.
Grades- your grade point average for U.C.‘s and CSU’s is determined by your sophomore and junior years, so make this year count.
Sophomores: This is the first year your courses will be used for your UC/CSU grade point average. Make your grades count. Counselors will be setting up individual after school counselor meetings with parents and students during the second semester to review academic standing and college information.
Freshmen: In November, Counselors will be doing a two day career/high school/college prep. counseling seminar and workshop in their Geography classes. Freshman year can be a difficult transition for many students. Parents please keep a close eye on your student(s) by monitoring homework, reviewing quarterly and deficiency grades, and by making teacher contacts.
Tutoring: For tutoring schedules please have your student speak with their teachers. There is a math tutoring schedule posted with math teachers available daily to support
student progress.
