Congrats JFK Robotics Team

Kennedy High School FIRST Robotics Team who competed this weekend (March 17-19 2011) at the FIRST Robotics Regional at UCD.

This team competed against 53 teams, and finished in the Quarter Finals and within the top ten teams (ranked 9)! They also received the Industrial Safety Award.

This team worked MANY hours after school and on weekends and accomplished finishing at the Quarter Finals which is the best any Sacramento City School District Team as done to date. Additionally, they brought home 2 trophies and received the first FIRST Robotics Award to date for the district.

This young team (only 2nd year) rebounded many problems throughout the practices and competition showing its excellence and remarkable strength as individuals and as a cohesive team!

I was on hand at UC Davis to watch the competition and the Kennedy squad was truly impressive. They won 7 out of their 10 matches, often against teams with years more experience in the competition and more funding. Mr. Green and the team persevered through tough inspections, mysterious breakdowns, and other difficulties to post a top 10 finish. Congratulations!

It is great to see high school students getting so involved in a project like this. What a wonderful learning experience and a great way for them to showcase their talents and bond with students from other schools with the same interests. Awesome job JFK Robotics!!!
