Small Learning Communities

Program in America and California Exploration (PACE) offers students a four-year advanced academic program with an emphasis in English and history. The goal is to ensure that all PACE graduates are prepared to attend and succeed at competitive four-year colleges and universities. Incoming freshmen take a mandatory four week enrichment summer program at California State University, Sacramento. Seniors have the opportunity to intern at the Capitol and in other state and local government agencies.

School of Public Services (SPS) – formerly HELM - is a new SLC that focuses on preparing students for careers in public services that include law, protective services (Criminal Justice Academy, which works in partnership with the Sacramento Police Department, and MCJROTC), and human services. Through speakers, community service, community links and internship opportunities, students will have a myriad of opportunities to participate in related experiences.

Technology and Design (T & D) provides opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in Engineering, Automotive and Architecture fields with an emphasis on technical skills necessary to secure gainful employment. Business and college connections are valuable aspects of the program.

Business and Multimedia (BAM) is a small learning community where students gain the skills, knowledge and habits necessary to thrive in the worlds of business and multimedia. Students will have the opportunity to explore business careers, entrepreneurship and different media fields such as newspaper, speech, television, radio production and computer graphics. BAM is also proud to feature the Academy of Culinary Arts.

Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) focuses on the core curriculum with an emphasis on music, drama, dance and art. Expressing one’s creativity is important to being a well-rounded, successful member of society. VAPA encourages students to participant in events over the summer and throughout the school year.
